New BK first, Man A second: City Hall corrects the founding record
The First Building at 1 Mii A Avenue predates Building 1 on Man A Square by a few months. The History page now says so.
For years the city's founding story put New BK and Man A side by side, founded together on January 27, 2013. The Registry's own records disagree, and City Hall has now corrected the History page: New BK was founded first, and Man A followed a few months later in the same year.
The evidence is in the Flatbush landmarks. The First Building (BK-0014, 1 Mii A Avenue), the New A Bank Center (BK-0015) and the Mii A Church (BK-0016) are all 2013 records in New BK, city-owned and protected. Building 1 (MA-0011) and First Tower (MA-0012) on Man A Square are also 2013 — but the Man A Square records were the second settlement, built once the bridge was.
'The oldest walls in the city are on Mii A Avenue,' the Registry clerk said. 'Building 1 is the oldest in Man A. Both things are true, and we had only been saying one of them.'
New BK villagers have been saying it at the Well since roughly 2013. The most-emeralded post today: 'We told you. We have been telling you. First borough. It is on the sign now.'
