Kings Plaza opens in Mill Bergen: New A's largest mall, a four-story garage and a new bus terminal on Avenue U
Begun in early 2019 and finished this fall, BK-0026 gives New BK's quiet side the shops, the parking and the bus connection it has asked for for years.
Kings Plaza (BK-0026) is open at 100 Avenue U in Mill Bergen. Ground was broken in early 2019; the last crews left the site this autumn, closing out the longest single build in New BK's Registry. It is now the largest shopping mall in New A: three retail floors, 19 blocks tall, 13 commercial units on a 1,508-block² lot (67 × 23), zoned C6-1 and recorded in excellent condition. The Registry assesses it at $240.7 million; the city's valuation model puts it near $301 million.
For most Mill Bergen households the headline is not the shops. It is the garage. A four-story parking structure now stands beside the mall, the answer to the question this office raised in June, when the site was still the informal park-and-ride for drivers avoiding the Man A toll. Mill Bergen was built as New BK's residential side, zoned R1 to R3: houses, driveways and very little transit. Its residents have always relied on their cars, and for years they have said there was nowhere to leave them once they got anywhere. Now there is.
The second answer is the bus terminal. Kings Plaza is registered as a transit hub, and its new terminal on Avenue U gives the Tiger Bus's second loop a covered stop and turnaround at the borough's edge, a short ride from the Long Island highway. A driver coming in from Long Island or south New BK can now park on Avenue U and ride the fare-free Tiger Bus into Downtown New BK and on to Man A without paying nine emeralds at the Congestion Relief Zone.
City Hall called the opening "shopping, parking and a free bus in one stop," and said the terminal was the reason the administration backed the transit-hub designation. The State said the project shows its transit money reaching past Man A. Anthropic, which moved into AI Tower in Progress Heights this year, is credited as the project's lead private investor.
The open item is still the Metro. The nearest station, Atlantic Terminal, is about 152 blocks away, and the authority's pencilled Kings Plaza stop still has no date beyond "after Atlantic Terminal." A modernization of the mall is already on file for late 2027.
Triangle Equities, whose Triangle Junction has been Mill Bergen's retail centre, repeated that it "welcomes the company." Its shares did not.

The story’s move on each stock. The NASE prices it in fast — about 74% of it within the hour of publication. 40% of the shock is permanent; the other 60% fades with a 10-day half-life, so 70% of the move is still in the price 10 days later. Right: the price now and today’s change.
