Port Authority files 2 World Trade Center, a second tower for Lower Man A
Next to the tallest building in the city, a filing with no height yet. The Registry recorded it as under construction.
The Port Authority of New A & New J has filed 2 WTC (MA-0055), a second tower at the World Trade Center in Lower Man A, beside One World Trade Center — at 158 blocks the tallest structure in the Registry. The filing gives a lot and a status, under construction, and leaves floors and height blank.
The blanks are the story. The Port Authority also owns 3 World Trade Center (200 Canal Street, ten floors, 2020) and has never said whether the second tower is meant to pass the first. The Registry Desk asked. 'Taller than three,' the Authority said.
Lower Man A is the Registry's densest section: the World Trade Center, the Canal Street strip, the First Avenue landmarks, Freedom Street. A second supertall would put the neighborhood's assessed value past Midtown's for the first time since the Empire State Building was finished in 2020.
The Port Authority is excluded from the NASE, so no ticker moved. Silvernine Properties, whose 2 Silvernine Towers stands across Freedom Street, watched from its windows.

The story’s move on each stock. The NASE prices it in fast — about 74% of it within the hour of publication. 40% of the shock is permanent; the other 60% fades with a 10-day half-life, so 70% of the move is still in the price 10 days later. Right: the price now and today’s change.
