TSX jumps 6.5% with no headline behind it as NASE extends post-election rally
The Times Square entertainment house led Friday's gainers to $189.64, but traders had no filing, deal or exchange event to explain the climb.
TSX Entertainment rose 6.5% to $189.64, putting the Times Square showman up 10.9% on the week and at the top of the NASE leaderboard. The Composite added 1.2% to 1122.6 as the post-election rally rolled on for another session.
Nothing on the books explains it. The exchange recorded no events on TSX in the last 36 hours, and no filing, contract or deal crossed the wire. On the floor, traders credited momentum and the calmer mood since Kathy Hochul's called win in the governor's race, with Democrats also taking the US House and keeping the Senate.
TSX had company at the top. ZAYS gained 5.8%, Meridian Span 5.6% and Cray Industries 4.4%, extending a run that has repeatedly lacked a clear trigger. The losers were few and shallow: Apple slipped 0.6%, while MSG Entertainment and Silvernine Properties each eased 0.1%.
"Folks are buying tickets to the show before they know what's playing," said one minecart vendor outside the Times Square headquarters. Skeptics on the floor warned that rallies built on mood rather than news can reverse as quickly as a redstone switch, and some expect profit-taking once the week closes.
For Albany's institutions, a steady market after a decisive race offers the governor a quiet argument that continuity calms investors. Her critics would counter that a few days of unexplained gains say little about the State's economy.

The story’s move on each stock. The NASE prices it in fast — about 74% of it within the hour of publication. 40% of the shock is permanent; the other 60% fades with a 10-day half-life, so 70% of the move is still in the price 10 days later. Right: the price now and today’s change.
