The Tiger Bus goes fare-free on the Man A–New BK loop
A one-year pilot funded from the congestion toll. Ridership doubled in a week; Juniors' line reached the library.
The fare boxes came off the Tiger Bus on Friday. The Man A–New BK loop — City Hall, Times Square, the New BK Bridge, Atlantic Parkway, Downtown New BK and back — is free to ride for a year, paid for from the Congestion Relief Zone's surplus.
The Tiger Bus has run since 2016, when it was a tourism loop to V Beach and the villagers called it a novelty. It is not a novelty now. Ridership doubled in the first week, and the stop outside Juniors on Atlantic Parkway has become a line of its own.
The Metro authority, which runs the tunnels but not the buses, called the pilot 'complementary'. Long Island, which the loop does not reach, called it something else. City Hall says a second loop to Soundview Avenue is 'in the timetable'.
Juniors gained on the NASE. McDonalds, at 700 Broadway, did not — the bus does not stop there, a fact its owner has raised with the Transit Desk twice.

The story’s move on each stock. The NASE prices it in fast — about 74% of it within the hour of publication. 40% of the shock is permanent; the other 60% fades with a 10-day half-life, so 70% of the move is still in the price 10 days later. Right: the price now and today’s change.
