Polls Open, Lines Moving: New A Votes for Governor, Borough by Borough
With polls open until 9 PM, New A's board shows no votes counted yet as Hochul and Blakeman make their final push from Flatbush to Soundview.
It is mid-morning in New A, the polls have been open since 6:00 AM, and they stay open until 9:00 PM. No votes have been counted yet. NA1's results board is blank for both Governor Kathy Hochul and Long Island Executive Bruce Blakeman, and it will stay that way until the polls close tonight.
In New BK, the morning rush at Triangle Junction in Flatbush ran straight into the voting lines. Flatbush is the State's biggest ward on our map, with about 9,400 votes at a full count. "I ride the Metro every day, so I know where the toll money goes," said one commuter with a ballot stub in hand. Down the road in Downtown New BK and Progress Heights, voters talked about transit, rent and the first all-woman major-party ticket, Hochul and former Council Speaker Adrienne Adams.
Across the river in Man A, the four wards together hold about 24,900 votes. Midtown and Central Man A had steady traffic before the workday started. Out in Mill Bergen, home of the two-car garage, the mood was different. "Every emerald I spend on that congestion toll is an emerald I don't spend on my family," one driver said outside Kings Plaza.
Blakeman's villager self spent the morning on home turf. Long Island holds about 8,200 votes on New A's map, and New S has another 4,600 on its South and North Shores. "Long Island built this campaign, and Long Island will finish it," he told supporters in Soundview. Running mate Sheriff Todd Hood is working the upstate end of the State, which accounts for about 72,000 votes off the city map, Blakeman's best ground.
Hochul's camp is betting on turnout in the big blue wards. The final polls had her ahead by 11 to 14 points, but Blakeman led independents in two of three surveys. The BX, New A's newest borough, has 38 votes at stake, and its homesteaders are taking their civic debut seriously.
NA1 will be on the air all day and night. The board fills in once the polls close at 9:00 PM.

The story’s move on each stock. The NASE prices it in fast — about 74% of it within the hour of publication. 40% of the shock is permanent; the other 60% fades with a 10-day half-life, so 70% of the move is still in the price 10 days later. Right: the price now and today’s change.
