Real returns, New A’s map
The count is real. The State of New A mirrors New York’s race for governor. Real county returns map onto New A’s boroughs — Manhattan → Man A, Brooklyn → New BK, Nassau + Suffolk → Long Island, Staten Island → New S, the Bronx → The BX — and the statewide line matches the real one, with the rest of the state off the city map.
The wards are modelled. New A draws its own neighbourhood lines from the Land Registry. Each borough’s real count is spread over its wards by population, partisan lean and how early each one usually reports — so Mill Bergen’s driveways report first and lean Blakeman, while Flatbush, Downtown New BK and Man A carry the most votes. Where real precinct results exist for a ward, they win.
Who updates it. From 7:00 PM to 2:00 AM ET the AI desk checks the real returns about every 12 minutes, with sources; the Mayor’s Desk can correct anything by hand. Calls follow the real ones.
