Pix 11 News opens a Long Island studio at 8 Flatbush Avenue
Madison Broadcasting's one-floor newsroom is the first media company on the Registry — and the first business on Long Island that is not a house or a gas station.
Pix 11 News went on air from 8 Flatbush Avenue on Long Island this morning, a single-floor studio owned by Madison Broadcasting and registered as LI-0004. It is the first media record in the Land Registry and, its anchors were quick to note, the first thing on Long Island with a marquee.
The channel will carry the Registry wire, the NASE close and — by arrangement with City Hall — the alert level, which it will read aloud even when it is Normal. 'Especially when it is Normal,' the news director said. 'People like to hear it.'
Long Island has fourteen records, most of them two-floor houses on Soundview Avenue, plus a real-estate office, a gas station and Cray Industries' headquarters. A newsroom changes the borough's zoning conversation, which until now has been about driveways.
Madison Broadcasting lists on the NASE as MDSN in a new Media sector. Its first story was about itself, which the Press Office considers a healthy sign.

The story’s move on each stock. The NASE prices it in fast — about 74% of it within the hour of publication. 40% of the shock is permanent; the other 60% fades with a 10-day half-life, so 70% of the move is still in the price 10 days later. Right: the price now and today’s change.
