Borough by borough: what is rising this fall — and what the Registry says used to stand there
300 Ashland has residents, the Chrysler is climbing and Kings Plaza has a roof. New A 1 walked every borough with the Land Registry’s new historical register in hand.
New A is building on both sides of the river this autumn. With the Land Registry’s historical register now public — thirty-four demolished records, each with the year it went up and the year it came down — New A 1 walked the five boroughs to see what is rising, and what it replaced.
Man A: six projects are under construction on the Registry. The Chrysler Building at 104 Lexington Avenue has reached its setbacks on the way to fifteen floors; ZAYS has broken ground at 800 Broadway; TSX Times Square, topped out at eleven floors, is wiring its screens on First Avenue a few doors from Louis Vuitton’s suitcase-wrapped flagship; Central Park Tower is filed for 2027; and 2 World Trade Center is, for now, a filing with a fence. The register remembers what stood nearby: the Canal Street Mall and Office Complex, Lower Man A’s first hub, cleared in 2018 for the street grid, and the two Silvernine towers lost in the 2017 griefing attack.
New BK: 300 Ashland, Two Trees Management’s twelve-floor apartment block near the Apple store on Mii A Avenue, has its first residents. Jamestown’s six-floor building at 1200 Avenue N is topping out in Flatbush, Kings Plaza has its roof on in Mill Bergen, and Atlantic Terminal’s concourse steel is due in October. Downtown New BK holds the oldest entries in the register: Isaiah’s Home and Mom’s House, both built in 2013 and taken down in the 2022–2023 rebuild.
Long Island: the borough’s newest record is 99 Soundview Avenue, a 2025 filing by GFP Real Estate, and a house on the avenue and the OP Gas station on Flatbush Avenue are both listed for sale. Nothing on the island has been demolished — the borough is too young to have lost anything yet.
New S and The BX: neither has an active record on the Registry yet. The New S Terminal, photographed under construction in 2024 in the Registry’s archive, has never been filed; The BX, admitted in January, is still a map of roads and possibility. City Hall says the first BX filing is “close.”
On the NASE, Two Trees Management and Jamestown L.P. have gained since the September update. A finished building phases into its owner’s fundamentals over the following three months.
