Canal Street Mall and Office Complex

This unnamed Lower Man A complex originated in 2013 as a server room and redstone-testing facility. Between August 2014 and spring 2015, the property expanded into a 22×22 mixed-use complex containing an eight-floor office building, a Canal Street-facing mall, civic and commercial tenants, airline counters, public spaces and a large McDonald’s cheeseburger billboard. The complex also contained a public platform for the Lower Man A Elevated Redstone Express, which passed through Independence Tower and continued to the PATH Station in what is now Midtown Man A. Elevated construction was used because underground construction through sand was prohibitively difficult before WorldEdit. The complex was probably bombed in January or February 2016, with the building itself as the intended target. Developers repaired the damage using bedrock, redesigned portions of the structure and added a 25-block hollow tower above the existing 26-block building, producing a final height of 51 blocks without increasing the eight occupied floors. The same attackers later destroyed the buildings on the future Silvernine Towers site. The complex remained a major center of villager activity until its deliberate demolition in 2018. Cocoa Street and the expanded street grid divided the former parcel into five successor properties: ZAYS Bank, 815 Canal Street, McDonald’s, the Verizon Building and Cocoa Street Parking.
